Microbeads are small plastic particles – typically between one micrometre and one millimetre in diameter – that are added to hunderds of personal care products, such as shampoos, shower gels, hand wash, exfoliating scrubs and even toothpaste. They are not biodegradable and are most commonly made from polyethylene or other plastics such as polypropylene or polystyrene, and are employed as exfoliating agents or used to give lotions that silky smooth feeling.

Many water treatment technologies today are unable to filter out these particles due to their small size. As a result, these tiny fragments of plastics are discharged and enter our waters. Fishes & other marine wildlife mistake these as food. Ultimately, many end up on our dinner plates hidden in deliciously cooked meals.

Here at Botaniumcare, we work hard to mindfully select earth-friendly ingredients to formulate our products. We have NEVER put and pledge to NEVER to put microbeads in any of our products.
